WHEN IMAGE QUALITY MATTERS
What is Nuclear Medicine?
Nuclear Medicine is an advanced diagnostic modality that uses a special camera to capture imagines of organs and tissues within the body. What sets nuclear medicine apart from other modalities is that nuclear medicine focuses on capturing the functional status of organs and tissues. The exam involved the patient taking a radioactive supplement and then capturing images of how the body responds to it.
DURING THE PROCEDURE
The patient will likely be asked to consume a very small radioactive “tracer”. The patient will then be asked to sit or lay down in front of a special camera as it images the functionality of the specific organ or tissues.
